Designing and constructing vertical carousel storage system
Vertical carousel storage system is a type of automatic storage system where the drawer box automatically approaches the user at the retrieval station by moving in elliptical pattern. Vertical carousel storage took the concepts of ferris wheel and elevator. The mechanical design will be similar to ferris wheel, where the cabin moves around circularly and maintains its position horizontally at the same time. The motor control and logic algorithm of the system are taken from the concept of elevator; where the motor runs when get an input and stops when the desired level is reached. This thesis project is focused on designing and constructing the vertical carousel storage system. All mechatronics knowledge will be applied to accomplish the objectives of the thesis project. This application will solve the storage problem often faced by company who does not have enough storage space.
