Ultrasound assisted extraction of butterfly pea leaves for anti diabetic and sterilization of the extract using ultrafiltration membrane
The purpose of this study is to study ultrasonic assisted extraction of butterfly pea leaves and its subsequent sterilization through ultrafiltration membrane for antidiabetic purposes. The optimum time/temperature configuration for ultrasonic assisted extraction is studied and it is found that extraction at 35°C for 5 minutes produces the optimal amount of TPC and TFC yield for the butterfly pea leaves extract. It is also found that ultrasonication can assist in reaching the maximum amount of yield in less time than SLE. Although it resulted in a pattern different from SLE. Afterward the feasibility of using ultrafiltration membrane for the purpose of bacteria sterilization is studied. It is found that ultrafiltration can sterilized butterfly pea leaves extract to some degree. Although it reduces the TPC and TFC yield of the extract significantly in the process. In conclusion
