Design and optimize three blade savonius wind turbine for wind electrical power generation in low wind speed area
This paper contain is about design and optimization of a 3 bladed two stages Savonius wind turbine. This turbine is designed for low speed wind of 4 m/s; The design is done by Solidworks software. The blade configuration was chosen to be as simple as possible so that the scaled prototype can be done in short period of time and the manufacturing cost is affordable. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software OpenFOAM is used for simulation step. The Simulation is done in order to see how much power that can be generated from the design in ideal situation in this software a solver called simpleFoam with k-ω turbulence model and steady state solution method is used. For validating both drag and torque calculations
