Designing and developing a Human Machine Interface (HMI) of a Scada system for the Festo MPS processing and handling station using Siemens Wincc HMI software
The main purpose of this thesis is to design a computerized Human Machine Interface for the FESTO MPS processing and handling stations. The graphical user interface will portray the statuses of the station in detail. Users will also be able to control the stations remotely. Two approaches will be discussed in this thesis. A microcontroller coupled with opto-isolators board will act as an external controller from PC to the PLC. The other approach is by using an HMI application, WinCC, to access the Siemens PLC directly through the PC serial port. The Microcontroller acts as signal conditioning and communication controller. To add some more efficiency, the WinCC can show the material that has been proceeded and show alarm message when the limit value is reached.
