Development of a resistance measurement tool for commutator in dc motor
As part of DC motor, commutator has an important role. Commutator is designed to reverse the direction of currents and fluxes to produce a net torque. The commutators is fixed to the rotor and is made of electrically conducting material but are insulated from each other. To keep this torque angle constant a the rotor spins on its shaft, we need to know the condition of commutator by measure the commutator resistance in each segment. This thesis work demonstrate how an automatic resistance measurement is implemented using a DC motor as an actuator, a combination of gears as a motor drive and a combination of electronic parts as a measurement tool.
