Implementing small database under record management system concept on mobile devices using Java2 micro edition
Wireless applications are emerging nowadays and have become more intelligent, the-Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME) enables developers to create Java applications for consumer and embedded products. J2ME as the subset of J2SE, provide an Application Programming Interfaces (API) to build a small database application on wireless devices. The limited API provided in J2ME creates a new concept of database for wireless devices called Record Management System (RMS). The purpose of the thesis is to understand the concept of building database application in mobile devices and to gain practical development by building a diary appointment application using RMS concept targeted for mobile phone. Java2 Micro Edition technology is used as the basis of theory and implementation of this thesis. Application is build and run on Sun's wireless toolkit Software Development Kit which integrated on JBuilder X IDE. The conclusion provide, J2ME configuration is unable to override date and time value and data mapping the most commonly recommended algorithm for RMS development is not an effective    way    to    store    and    retrieve    data    in    date    and    time    format.
