Designing and developing a locally controlled automatic pcb drilling machine
Manual Printed Circuit Board (PCB) drilling is still being carried out nowadays for a small size production. This fact has projected an idea of an automatic PCB drilling with economical cost. rnThis thesis presents a project design of an automatic PCB drilling device that is constructed and implemented in 3 dimensions, X, Y, and Z. X and Y dimensions are used as a reference for driller positioning; while Z dimension as the direction of the driller's movement.rnThis project is divided into two general steps. rnThe first is the mechanical development. This step includes: design, manufacture, and assembly of the machine, creating interface between the machine and PC. The second is software and electrical components development. This step includes: developing a stepper motor driver and developing a program in microcontroller. Computer Aided Design (CAD) is used in integrating both steps.rnLocal control of the drilling machine is the main focus in this project. Driving the motor precisely and accurately into a desired position is the main objective of this project. Since this project will be done by two persons, the interfacing and control between the Personal Computer and the drilling machine will be developed by Yohan Prasetya.
