Designing and constructing a model of an automatic ship balancing system
Ships have been used since long time ago as water transportation. They can be used to carry passengers and goods. Balance is one of important aspect in building a ship. This thesis is focusing in designing and constructing a system that enable ship to balance itself automatically when its load is not distributed evenly. This system uses the weigHTM distribution using water as the media that can be transported through the tanks in the ship. The control is done by a microcontroller board which determines the flow direction of the water by activating certain pumps and valves. As the input to the microcontroller board is the reading from fuel gauges that monitor the water level around the ship.rnrnFirst step is to determine the overall design plan for mechanical structure. Then it is continued by defining the configuration of pump and valve, choosing the appropriate sensor, making a circuit diagram of electrical, control, and driving part of the system and also programming the microcontroller. rnrnThe result shows that the system is able to balance a ship. Although the sensors need to be given some tolerance because the system works on water that actually never stops moving. If the sensor has no tolerance then the whole system will be very hard to be considered has reached the balance state.
