Walnuss technical documentation and user guide development
The main purpose of this thesis is to create documentation for WALNUSS at SGU. WALNUSS is a web based application of University Resource Planning at SGU. Modules covered in WALNUSS include the rectorate, marketing, human resources, academic matters, faculties, general administration and curriculum management. The problem here is that there is no documentation and user guide. No documentation can causes problems when the system is about to be changed or renewed. And without the user guide, it will make some difficulties for new user to operate the system. This thesis uses a reverse engineering method, which is a process of discovering the technology principal through analysis of its structure, function and operation. It involves taking something (part of the system) and analyzes its working in detail. The result of this thesis will provide a documentation of WALNUSS that makes a clear overview of the WALNUSS system that runs at SGU. The documentation process will use tools such as UML (Unified Modeling Language) and ERD (Entity Relationship Diagram) for database tables.
