Designing and implementing a system to control the processes of an mps (modular production system) by sms (short messaging service)

Modular Production System (MPS) is a learning system which can be used to simulate real-life industrial practice. The MPS in Swiss German University is a combination of several stations which are the distribution-, testing-, processing- and handling station. The general purposes of the processes in the MPS are to sort out the work pieces and process it. On the other hand, SMS (Short Messaging Services) is a very common method to send information in text format which is used by almost every person in the world in their daily life. It is possible, as it is supported by the extensive GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) network. To improve the existing MPS capabilities, the MPS will be modified which some of its main processes can be controlled by SMS. Finally, these added values in the MPS will increase everyone's motivation to know more about the MPS, as they could be involved in controlling the MPS main processes by sending SMS through their mobile phone.
