Designing ermac: a city web based map as a geographical information system

Nowadays, an ordinary map can be represented more interactively as a web based map. Unfortunately, most of web based maps in Indonesia is only focused to the map as the product. This research has a purpose to define a technology to develop an interactive web based map and then develop an interactive web based map for a city in Indonesia using the defined technology. The application will provide not only a set of pictures but more important is the data in addition with some GIS functionality.rnrnThis city web based map application will be developed using MapServer and PHP/MapScript. The functionalities supported by this application are, interactive tools to manipulate map display such as zoom-in, zoom-out, etc. and some analytical functions of GIS such as querying and classifying.rnrnIn conclusion, MapServer with PHP/MapScript are really capable to develop an interactive web based map application.
