An analysis of deposit insurance scheme and its impact on the performance of commercial bank in Indonesia
The primary purpose of this study is to identify the impact of deposit insurance scheme under LPS on the general performance of commercial banks and to investigate whether the impact serve and matches the purpose of deposit insurance and the objective of the commercial banks. The author divide the commercial banks into four categorize which are large size banks, medium size banks, small size banks, and all size banks groups. The author compared the growth of those four groups of banks in term of the total deposits and four performance indicator growths prior and post LPS. The author also used the statistical analysis to compare the mean of all four group's total deposits and four performance indicators prior and post LPS. The result of this study proved that there are different impacts of LPS faced by different groups of commercial banks. Large and medium size banks faced a positive impact from the implementation of LPS, while for small and all size banks faced a negative impact from the implementation of LPS.
