An analysis of the impact of avian influenza publication to the animal health industry: a case study of PT Surya Hidup Satwa

Johan, Veriyana - Personal Name; Aripin, Peter - Personal Name;

The primary purpose of this research was to study the impact of Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) publication to the overall performance of PT. Surya Hidup Satwa. The company is a subsidiary of PT. Charoen Pokhpand which was originated from Thailand. It moves along the animal health industry. rnThere are some considerations for the company if it wished to be more involved in the bird flu case, like social responsibility, business ethics and cost for advertising and promotion. If PT. SHS had anticipated bird flu in its business plan, this research would examine how much this widespread of bird flu influenced PT. SHS' business plan, on the other hand if PT. SHS had not anticipated and done anything about the bird flu, this research would study the reasons behind their choice of action and see whether it should have anticipated it and the effects that might be resulted. rnAs we had known, Indonesia was the country where there were most number of victims due to the Avian Influenza widespread and this condition had reached a worrying stage where there were so much publication about the disease and also the incidents that followed. This research would like to examine whether the publication of bird flu itself had influenced any sector in Indonesia, by measuring the effects of the publication to chicken breeders and farmers, analyzing the home consumption pattern in Indonesia and also by looking at the sales of an animal health industry, taking PT. SHS to be the case study. rnThe methodology of this research focuses upon the actions taken by PT. SHS so far. The collection of data will be through informal interviews, direct environment observation and also to go to the breeding places to find out more about the condition and situation in the field. rnFrom all the observation, then the statement of the effects of Avian Influenza publication to three economic aspects, which were the chicken breeders in Indonesia, home consumption for chicken meat and eggs and also to PT. Surya Hidup Satwa will be concluded.
