Developing intangible cultural heritage as a way of promoting cultural tourism in museums in Indonesia
The purpose of this research is to study the current situation of museums in Indonesia and to find out further development needed to promote cultural tourism in these museums by focusing on showcasing intangible cultural heritage.rnrnThe research was done using inductive explanatory approach providing descriptive statistics. Data was collected by questionnaires given to people who have visited museums in Indonesia and supported by a literature review as well as interviews.rnrnBased on these sources, it is found that Indonesia's museums have a great but underutilized potential. The questionnaire respondents agreed that they would visit museums more often if they are more interesting. The respondents find the intangible cultural heritage fascinating.rnrnIn order to attract more visitors, museums should strive to become a venue where art and culture comes alive. When the tangible and intangible heritage is intertwined culture can be truly experienced and this will attract more visitors.
