Designing and constructing of small size coordinate measuring machine model
Automation plays an increasingly important role in the global economy and in daily. The continuously developing technology in the industrial sector has led to significant changes in the way machine operate. Flexibility has become one of the crucial factors to consider in designing and constructing a machine in terms of its functionality. The machine tools are one of the solutions that technology offers to fulfill this requirement. A coordinate-measuring machine (CMM) is a device for dimensional measuring. It is an NC machine that used to move a measuring probe to obtain the coordinate of points on an object surface. The machine uses an X-Y-Z grid to determine its position on a worktable. The probe is used to touch different spots on the part being measured. The machine then uses the X, Y, Z coordinate of each of these points to determine size and position. To be able to conduct material handling appropriately, the mechanical design and motor must be of certain specification with the assistance of mechanical probe as detector. And microcontroller as control of motor and mechanical probe to measure coordinate object.
