Digital image processing: study of printed individual arabic character recognition for stored image using matlab

Computer application for character recognition plays an important role in the modern world. It is able to solve more complex problems and makes humans' job easier. It saves time, money, and reduces or eliminates human to perform such a repetitive task. An example is printed individual Arabic character recognition.rnrnThe purpose of this research is to study the neural network method in order to recognize characters. Furthermore, to initiate the creation of Arabic characters recognition software prototype that is able to recognize printed Arabic characters in Times New Roman type. rnrnThis research used the Back Propagation Neural Network method. This method is used because it provides high accuracy in recognizing the data. rnrnThe finding of this research is the ability of a simple application in recognizing some of the printed individual Arabic characters: Aleef (?), Wau (?), Ain (?), and Meem (?).
