The emergence of budget airlines and their relation on consumer behavior
This thesis examines the phenomena of the emergence of budget airlines in Indonesia and their effect on changing of consumer behavior, emphasizing on consumer preference in selecting and influencing factors of purchase decision. This research use inductive-explanatory-quantitative method. On which the data is gathered from the primary and secondary quantitative and qualitative data. Questionnaire data is analyzed using t-test and confidence interval. All data is correlated based on the theoretical perspective and logical explanation. It is concluded that, generally, consumers prefer to choose airlines that have good safety records and offer reasonable price. However, consumer may choose budget airlines over normal fares airlines if budget airlines able to give consumer assurance on safety and on time performance while still offer low price. On the other hand, high standard of service quality and schedule variety can give a competitive advantage for full service airlines.
