Re-design the traditional culture to supporting the tourism attraction (study case: wayang kulit)
Indonesia has many traditional cultures such as batik, kebaya, songket, and wayang. Wayang has different variety, wayang orang, wayang klitik, wayang golek, wayang kulit and wayang is Indonesian word for traditional theater. The purpose of wayang was to give illumination (information) to the society. The Hindus and Islam were using the Wayang to spread the religion, mostly stories from Mahabharata, Ramayana and Panji. Wayang kulit are prevalent in Java and Bali in and it plays behind the cotton screen and it is called shadow puppet. Wayang, previously was a way to entertain people especially the royal family. It was not needs complicated idea to make them enjoy it.rnNowadays the functions are replaced by other media such as television and it is more interesting and entertaining than wayang. Wayang is only as the heritage from traditional culture and many people do not interest with it.rnBut, it doesn't mean that wayang must replace the television because it will not happen. We can maintain it as a special attraction. The challenge for it is how to make it not only as the traditional culture but also to make it known by people. To meet the needs and wants, the wayang need innovative, creative, and also modern idea to gain the market and it also can attract foreign tourists to come to Indonesia. My thesis is concern in it and how to solve it
