Designing and constructing vibration monitoring system for a model of rotating machine

Azavi, Arsy - Personal Name; Arko - Personal Name;

The physical movement or motion of a rotating machine is normally referred to as vibration. The vibration device constantly monitors the system of the rotating machine. Since the vibration frequency and amplitude cannot be measured quantitatively by sight or touch, the vibration is sensed to give a usable output signal that can be measured and analyzed. If the vibration signals from the machine have a lot of noise, there are possibilities that the rotating machine has defects. In this project, vibration device is constructed in scaled model. The vibration from the rotating machine is monitored using vibration sensor. The output signal of the vibration sensor is processed in microcontroller, the values are transferred to a computer via a communication medium (i.e. serial port), and plotted using C++ Builder data plotter software. The waveform and spectrum of the vibration can be displayed to allow further analysis of the vibration.
