Design and construction of eddy current based instrument for non-destructive testing (ndt)
This thesis focus on designing and constructing an eddy current based instrument for non-destructive testing. The purpose of this thesis is to design and analyze an eddy current technique as a sensor which is used for the nondestructive examination (NDE) and monitoring large variety of metallic structures. This thesis is initiated with designing and constructing the probe which is used as the sensor. The source is oscillated DC voltage source. The alternating current in the probe will create magnetic field in and around the probe. The probe's magnetic field induced magnetic field in the conductor and create eddy currents. The eddy currents flow will be disrupted when a crack occur on the conductor's surface and affect the impedance in the probe. The impedance changes are used to determine the inspection for non-destructive testing.
