Dsp implementation on musical instrument learning console with string less guitar as the signal processing application
This thesis presents the design, development, and implementation of the String-less Guitar system - a gesture recognition guitar model MIDI controller instrument. The goal of this work is to build new type of music instrument for musical learning purpose. The step that involved in developing a physical model of a guitar is the implementation of mass spring damper model. The guitar sound is compared and analyzed as the reference to simulate the behavior of the model. Moreover, several guitar playing techniques also simulated on this particular system such as string plucking, strumming, and bending. This particular system converts hand gesture into MIDI messages as the output. Then, it is analyzed to prove that the messages can represent the behavior of the mass spring damper as guitar model. The MIDI output of this system control the General MIDI synthesizer to produce sound envelope that imitated guitar sound envelope and behavior.
