The purpose of the research of this thesis is to study an alternative way, known as venture capital, to finance small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia. The rnimplementation and development of venture capital in Indonesia are analyzed and rndiscussed. The methods used in data gathering are interviews with key persons related with the topic and distributing questionnaires to SMEs in DKI Jakarta. The findings rnof this thesis are the actual condition of venture capital in Indonesia along with its rnimplementation, progress, benefits, obstacles etc. Its role towards the development of rnSMEs has been discussed and conclusions were made. In general, venture capital already plays a role towards the development of SMEs.
