Design and development of car driving and steering using joystick

Lee, Andryo - Personal Name; Prajogo, Tutuko - Personal Name;

The main purpose of this thesis is to help handicapped people, especiallyrnthose with no legs, in order to be capable of driving a car. The system willrnenable them to operate a car by themselves with mechatronics modification.rnThis way they can travel further compare to the limitations of wheel chair. Thernmodification includes low cost mechanical addition on steering wheel, throttle,rnbrake pedal, and transmission. The low cost mechanism mainly concentratesrnon the mechanical modification with no harm or injury to car?s original body.rnFurthermore, different systems are applied to transmission, steering, throttle,rnand brake pedal. In detail, DC motors are used as actuator for the systems.rnHowever, each system has different methods of mounting, application, andrnpurpose. The hardware is controlled with a data acquisition board (DAQ)rnwhich provide analog-digital converter (ADC). Computer handles the mainrnprogram for DAQ and links up to joystick as the new controller for the car. Inrnthis project, operator only needs to move the joystick forward, and push somernavailable buttons. This automated system and modification is not yet availablernand never had been done in Indonesia, from the research done for this thesis.
