Analysis and implementation of fpga in dc motor control

Anggradio, Bernardinus Brian - Personal Name; Trihatmo, Sardjono - Personal Name;

This thesis describes how to implement FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) in DC motor position control. The FPGA in this project functions as a controller. Inside the FPGA, modules are developed to control the motor. The modules are PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) generator, incremental rotary decoder, universal serial transmitter, and DC motor control blocks. They are developed to keep the motor position at a desired reference value. All these models are programmed using HDL (Hardware Description Language). In this project, the motor position is controlled by using relays. Motor Position against voltage represents an unstable system. In the experiment, This motor position is controlled by using a relay. The use of the relays is to produce a self oscillating conditions that stabilize the whole system. The result shows that the position control is quickly reach a reference value.
