Designing and constructing metal detector for pharmaceutical tablet
The aim of this thesis is to design and construct a metal detector for pharmaceutical tablet. The design is inspired by several existing metal detectors with similar behavior to this thesis. This metal detector will be mounted with rejecting device to reject the contaminated tablet. This type of metal detector is mandatory in pharmaceutical industry, which acts as the quality controller for the tablet production. Several experiments related to electromagnetic induction concept are done. First experiment was using one probe and the second one was using two probes placed across to one another, which act as an electromagnetic transmitter and a receiver. Both experiments are carried out by placing a ferrite sample each in a different position. Each experiment results are measured by using a multimeter and an oscilloscope. Voltage in receiver probe will increase when ferrite sample crosses the magnetic flux. The difference voltage indicates as the presence of metal. Actuator is added to perform rejecting action of tablet contaminated by metal. Metal detection by using two probes placed across to one another is applicable.
