Implementation of cost control in research & development division: a case study in PT. XYZ

The purpose of the study basically is to provide a broader and better understanding about cost control in a company, especially related in the research and development division. This research focuses on the one publicly listed company in Indonesia, name PT. XYZ. Then analyzed the data through five years span, from 2005-2009. This research using multiple regressions and t-Test statistic to make sure that the cost control system has been implemented. From the first analysis, PT. XYZ has taken several remedial actions such as tight cost control and cut unnecessary cost for several post in projects in order to reduce unnecessary cost. From the second analysis, cost control activities play an important role in research and development division. This also helps this research and development division to fulfill their goals for cost effectiveness.
