Analyzing and improving the existing inventory system of PT. Cosmar

This thesis investigates problems in current inventory system of a cream based product called Product A at PT. Cosmar. The findings from investigation will be used to propose a design of inventory system for the product. A symptom given by PT.Cosmar and became the initial formulated problem is the inaccuracy of inventory data record. ABC classification is used to improve the accuracy of data with the final result in form of inventory policy. The second problem formulated of this thesis is about material planning where the current planning implemented is using traditional approach which may leads to an excess or shortage inventory. A design of Material Requirement Planning is proposed and compared to the current planning. In the end, the outputs of this research are proposed inventory policy and new design of material planning that helps the company to have more accurate inventory data record and well organized material planning.
