Study of linear accelerator output for patient safety in dharmais hospital
Cancer is a disease caused by an uncontrolled growth of cells and result a lump calledrntumor to form. Radiation therapy is one of many methods in treating cancer. Linearrnaccelerator is used in radiation therapy to expose external radiation beam. There arernso many aspects which being concerned and output is one of them. This writing willrndelivered the result of daily quality assurance and calibration procedure fromrnDharmais Hospital and MRCCC Siloam Hospital Semanggi. The methodology isrnbased on TRS 398 by IAIE and TG-40 by AAPM. Based on international standard, rnwhich also used by the hospital, the percentage error allowance for photon beamrnenergy and electron beam energy is 2%. From the study it was found that beforerncalibration procedure the value of percentage error is quiet high and even sometimesrnexceeds the standard. That is why calibration is necessary in obtaining the maximumrntreatment result. Daily quality assurance is also important in maintaining the systemrncondition every day. The conclusion is that every hospital has their own method inrnmaintaining this procedure and also tries their best in giving the best treatment for thernpatient.
