Study of electrical safety in hospitals for group 2 medical locations using national and international standard

Safety is everybody?s wish. For hospitals, the importance of patient safety has lead tornthe development of guidance, rules, and systems to prevent any life-threateningrnactivities. The objective of this research was to conduct a study about electricalrnhazards in medical fields and their prevention according to national and internationalrnrules. The research focused on leakage current tests for medical electrical equipmentsrnand observation of hospital electrical system in total of 6 hospitals in Jakarta,rnSemarang, and Surakarta. The leakage current test results were quite satisfyingrnalthough some procedures were still not done properly according to the standardizedrnnorms. The observation for hospital electrical system found that most hospitals inrnIndonesia still have not applied the internationally accepted standardized systems. Thernmost apparent causal for the safety compromise are lack of knowledge and lowrnbudget.
