Design and analysis of single-stage coil accelerated rifle model with external power source
The primary objective of this thesis is to develop a coilgun model using a modified existing charging circuit from previous MSD 2 project. The existing project has not yet working and have circuit breakdown during its initial test thus this thesis is also aimed to find these problems. Some major problems to be tested and discuss in this thesis is the selection of charging circuit component according to its theoretical calculation and the coil design, the projectile shape and the controller interface. The charging circuit will be constructed using the selected component and the coil will be constructed according to its simulated inductance result. After the whole system is integrated, the coilgun will be required to propel a number of projectiles with different mass and shape to test its performance and efficiency. Other consideration related to the system as a rifle model will also be discussed.
