Improving the flexibility of the packaging machine for bulky material

Purpose of this thesis is to improve the flexibility of the machine in of the range of product it can process in terms of weight. Besides that, the basic faults carried from the previous work would be addressed. The problems encountered are faulty sealing process, finding a method to migrate from fixed dosing to variable dosing and feeding information to the microcontroller. Methodologies used in this thesis are using basics in the field of physics and engineering. They would follow the disciplines set in these fields. Calculations are involved in development and designing of the new subsystem(s) proposed. Statistical analysis is also performed to provide a sense of accuracy and precision of the experiments. The result would cover investigation of the machine's overall state and its' subsystems. Parameters for the correct sealing method and several machine performance figures would be stated. For the new balance scale dosing method, a statistical analysis is also provided. Future recommendations would involve system migration from mechanical to pneumatic actuation, further simplification of components and improvement of the current balance scale.
