Life cycle inventory data format assessment and life cycle inventory database prototyping in Indonesia
Life Cycle Assessment is a method for assessing environmental impact and energy use in product life cycle. Life Cycle Inventory is part of LCA where it contains the data inventory of product. LCA can be categorized as new and only few organizations applied LCA in Indonesia. To find out about LCA condition in Indonesia, interview was conducted with member of LCA community in IPB. The main purpose of this research was to conduct LCI data conversion between two: IDEA used in MiLCA software and Ecospold v1 used in openLCA, which both use by LCA community in IPB. The difference in structure between these two data format assessed in order to know the potential difference and unsuitable field. LCI data format conversion was prototyped using ETL tools. As a result, IDEA to Ecospold v1 can be accomplished, and can be exported to openLCA, but with many unsuitable fields between them. LCA community in IPB does not yet agreed on standard that can determine what kind of value that are suitable for unmapped fields in converted data format. Thus, at the moment data validation cannot possibly done to ensure the data quality.
