Evaluating common algorithms for hand movement recognition as a novel method of human-computer interaction
This thesis provides the research in Computer Vision field which aims to have an initial study and to explore the latest development in the field in the hope of finding a novel way to interact with computers. In this research, common algorithms for object detection are evaluated. Experiments are done by implementing the algorithms to demonstrate simple mouse movement and hand detection using OpenCV as the library. The study found that the OpenCV Haar Detection offers better solution than a proposed algorithm, but there are several conditions that have to be fulfilled in order to achieve smooth performance.
