Analysis of organizational culture at Swiss German University: a study using the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI)
An understanding in managing and changing the culture in an organization is necessary as the organizational culture plays an important role in influencing organizational performance. In relation to that issue, the purposes of this research are to analyze whether the type of organizational culture that is currently used in SGU already the same with the preferred one and to analyze whether academic and non-academic staff in SGU implements different organizational culture. In doing this research, Organization Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) is used as the measurement tool to identify the type of organizational culture. The research is based on quantitative data of 80 respondents. T-test method in PhStat is used to analyze the data from the questionnaires and to test the hypothesis of this research. The conclusion of this research explained that the type of organizational culture that is currently used in SGU is Hierarchy, while the type of organizational culture that is appropriate to be used in SGU or as the preferred one is Clan. As the implication of this research, in order to be successful, SGU is suggested to change the type of organizational culture to Clan as what individuals prefer it to be in the future.
