Estimation of optimum mixing time of binary powder mixture in v-blender
The purpose of this research was to estimate the optimum mixing time of binary powder mixture in V-blender using a mathematical model. The variables investigated in this study were particle size and density difference of the material mixed in V- blender. The analysis was made based on the mixing index profile and mixing rate constant calculated from mixing index graph. The mixing rate constant from each variation was compared to each other. As a result, the particle size difference ranging from 0 to 860 ?m was proved to show no effects on mixing process. Density difference from 0 to 1100 kg/m3 affecting the mixing rate constant in linear relationship was proved statistically. The constructed mathematical model explained the relationship between mixing time and density difference of material. The model was valid to predict the optimum mixing time with accuracy range of 86.82% to 96.03% from actual mixing time.
