Reviving backpacker tourism to promote Jakarta as a potential destination
For many years in South East Asia, backpacker tourism has become a common phenomenon in tourism especially in areas around Thailand and its neighboring countries. Indonesia also has its share of backpacker tourists who at some point in their travel in Indonesia, will visit Jakarta either as an entry point or as an exit point before going back.rnThe study analyzed how Jakarta's backpacker tourism correlates with Jakarta's popularity as a tourist destination. The research's primary data collection started on December 21 - 28 2013 in the Central Jakarta area. Using the collected data of 100 respondents, the results yield a definate moderate positive correlation between the two observed variables. The results also provide recommendations to improve backpacker tourism.
