Analyzing the Defect Rate to Enhance the Product Quality in Indonesian Apparel Industry - a Case Study of Un Brand Denim Jeans Product
The development of apparel industry in Indonesia has progressed rapidly. This progressed has contributed the economic growth. Fashion has become a necessity for most people of Indonesia. to ensure the quality of product will be accepted to the majority buyer, quality control from input until output of the product is necessary. Defects rate of product plays a very important role for the improvement of yield and financial conditions of any company. one of the problem of quality is defect product, defects rate causes a direct effect on the profit margin of the product and decrease the quality of product. Minimizing defect rate through Six Sigma DMAIC analysis is tool measurement of this study to acknowledge which factor that should be improve. Un Brand Denim is great example of development of apparel industry in Indonesia, established in 2010 Un Brand Denim still have the main problem, which is the defect product. Maintaining the quality also becomes a important factor that must considered. Six Sigma DMAIC (Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control) method is tool of researcher to improve and propose some suggestion to Un Brand Denim to boost their quality improvement and also reduce the defect product in every production season. Output of this result will be the action plan suggestion of quality control and also there is a suggestion of how to improve the current quality management of Un Brand Denim.
