Inventory Management Analysis of an Economic Order Quantity Method in PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia

Raw material is the most vital production factor for the continuity of the production process. Lack of managing raw material may cause stock out which will affect to the opportunity loss. This research try to compare between current applied method that use to manage the raw material inventory in PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia with some several methods, which are: (a) Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method; (b) Safety Stock; (c) Reorder Point (ROP). Moreover, this research is expected to give direction for the company to minimize their total inventory cost including ordering cost and carrying cost of the raw material inventory for the continuance of the company in the future. the data will be gathered by collecting the primary data from PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia three years back from 2011-2013. as a result from the analysis, by implementing the EOQ, PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia could minimize their total inventory cost. in addition by determining the optimal safety stock and reorder point of the raw material, it will reduce the holding cost and also reduce the risk of quality depreciation.
