Design of a cyber security laboratory, case study: SGU and ID-SIRTII project laboratory development
The use of internet in Indonesia is increasing rapidly. More than thirty million people in Indonesia use internet as a media for business, education, entertainment, and other social interactions. The misuse of internet, as known as cyber crime, also increases. There are sort of events that trigger the occurrence of cyber crime. Based on that situation, the government has formed a national CSIRT which is called IDSIRTII (Indonesia Security Incident Response Team on Internet Infrastructure) in 2007 to invigilate the network security based on internet protocol. The missions of ID-SIRTII are to control, to prevent, and to help the enforcement of law if the cyber crime happened. ID-SIRTII, as an institution that control and prevent cyber crime should have several research laboratories such as Digital Forensics Laboratory, Malware Analysis Laboratory, and Hacking Laboratory. This thesis is purposeful to help ID-SIRTII in designing the Digital Forensics Laboratory. The laboratories will be located in the new campus of Swiss German University. Initially, IDSIRTII and Swiss German University are going to establish the Digital Forensics Laboratory and then continued with the other laboratories. Swiss German University will also launch Master Program specialized in IT-Security for Information and Technology to bring out professionals and experts in IT-Security.
