Production of bee-propolis extract powder as antibacterial active material for pharmaceutical industry

Bee-propolis, a natural resinous hive product, contains a mixture of various amounts of beeswax and resins. A variety of plants may be suggested to give great contribution to its various chemical components. Many variations of bee-propolis have been identified; propolis gives antioxidant and rnantimicrobial especially antibacterial activities. In this study by adding rnlactose as tablet excipient, propolis is able to present in a solid form to rnundergo various process in pharmaceutical industry especially tableting. rnGiven propolis sample has antioxidant and antibacterial activities; it may rnnot give significant results as other identified propolis. It may be caused rnby undetached of other redundant material from propolis sample resulting the rndecreasing of propolis concentration. Varied components of given propolis rnsample may have significant result on other activities.
