It is because the high customers? Shoe return rate due to shoe quality problems reflects the customers? Dissatisfaction that can also result in the increasing shoe repairing cost. This thesis will study the quality improvement strategy in the highly competitive sports shoe business. Data and information required for the research are mostly derived from henkel dongsung indonesia, which is one of the leading chemical and total solution providers in shoe business, and pt.x, which is one of the sports shoe manufacturers in indonesia. Six-sigma methodology, ?Define ? Measure ? Analyze ? Improve ? Control (dmaic)?, Is used to analyze the root causes of shoe bonding failure. Through the case study, three factors are found to impact on the shoe bonding performance: production operator, pressure and temperature. The production operator who has more experience would be preferable in order to produce more complicated shoe models. Proper temperature would maximize the shoe bonding performance. Adequate pressure considering shoes models, features of shoes? Components and supplementary press pad would make better bonding result. Finally, by setting the optimized production conditions discovered in this study, pt.x could have distinctive competence in quality performance and customer satisfaction.
