Behind the multi crisis in Indonesia, Indonesian people face many problems. The main economic problem is Indonesian exchange rate plunged down very deep. The impact of exchange rate felt down Indonesian people faces decrease of purchasing power significantly. The decrease of buying power generates many problems in Indonesia. One of the problems is people health condition. Indonesia needs inexpensive medical drug prices and its ideally available widespread in Indonesia. Generic medical drug is the solution to fulfill the Indonesian people's need.rnrnNevertheless medical drug distribution needs a huge effort in consequence of the Indonesian archipelago. As result of it, a pharmaceutical industry should have a strategy to increase efficiency at all business process.rnrnA well supply chain management from supplier to retailer and wrapped with proper low cost of information technology networking could reduce cost of production and distribution.rnrnWith the supply chain and information technology background, this thesis would focus on analysis of 2 types of information networking, Frame Relay and Internet Protocol - Virtual Private Network (IP VPN), which are comparison of their technology capability, cost comparison, and cost saving. After analysis, the study would seek to develop of supply chain network coverage, investment requirement and internal rate of return of new investment.rnrnConclusion of this study, IP VPN has better in network features, cost effective and more flexible than frame relay. IP VPN also has wider coverage to support supply chain stages, simple network architecture, low cost of development and high internal rate of return.
