Study of consumer adoption to use near field communication based mobile payment in Jakarta
Near field communication, nfc in short, is a new generation of wireless communication based on radio frequency technology. Equipped to answer demanding requirements for digital transaction, nfc comes with technical solution providing novel approach as answers. One of the promising area of nfc implementation is mobile payment (m ?çô payment) that receives attention globally. M ?çô payment refers to making payments using mobile devices. Understanding the determinants of consumer acceptance of nfc m ?çô payment will provide important theoretical contributions to the field and lead to the development of more effective nfc m ?çô payment devices and systems. By expanding the technology acceptance model (tam) and the innovation diffusion theory (idt), this study proposes an adoption research model that examines the factors which determine consumer acceptance of nfc m ?çô payment. Significant support for the model was found in the data collected from a survey of potential nfc users with compatibility and perceived transaction speed being the most significant factor in intention to adopt nfc based payment. Implications for practice and suggestions for future research are provided.
