Analysis of strategic planning of pharmaceutical distribution: a case study of major pharmaceutical distribution companies in Indonesia
The main purpose of this research is to study and analyze the phenomenon of the influence of the strategic planning and business environment on the performance of major pharmaceutical companies in indonesia. Following the five force of porter to see how the pharmaceutical industry competition, and by using the ge matrix to capture the industry attractiveness to get insight if the industry still attractive enough to be entered. Analysis was employed toexamine both primary and secondary data. Primary data consisted of questionnaires distributed the top 50 pharmaceutical companies, the experts and authoritative person in the indonesia healthcare and pharmaceutical distribution industry in the five cities. Meanwhile, secondary data were collected from internal sources and external sources. According to the model built in this study which is consist of multi indicators variable there by sem is employed to test the hypotheses. The result show that the pharmaceutical environment indicator most positively affect strategic planning and strategic planning subsequently influence company performance in positive manner. The implication of this research is that strategic planning can provide a greater influence on company performance. For it is expected that the leadership and strategic planners need to observe changes in the external business environment in a more comprehensive strategic planning. Lastly, this research suggests the importance of strategic planning for pharmaceutical distribution industry.
