Conventional and Extranet-Based Data: Comparative Analysis on Export Documents Under Letter of Credit

This thesis exposes a comparison between conventional data and extranet-based data applied in export documents under letters of credit in connection with supply chain management concept. The comparison is focused to see the advantages, disadvantages, and other impacts given by each model to exporters.nnBy looking at the characteristics of the two data models matched with the characteristics and flow of export documents, it is concluded into two alternatives. First, conventional accords with letters of credit and may provide high payment security in bank negotiation, but it triggers off inefficiency in documents making and delivery. Second, the use of extranet-based data integration generates efficiency in documents making and delivery, but it needs more trust in payment.nnFinally, the use of extranet-based data integration may lead to two possibilities. First, there may be disposal of inapplicable letters of credit. Second, there may be single banks group that serves letters of credit, from issuing, advising, to negotiating banks.n
