Genetic Algorithm Based Optimization Technique to Optimize Bracelet Anode Cathodic Protection Design

Handarini, Dwianti Darmi - Personal Name; Suryana, Yaya - Personal Name;

The thesis investigates the application of genetic algorithm optimization technique to obtain the optimum design of bracelet anode cathodic protection. The codes, standards and product variety allow wide range of possible designs. Using the optimization technique, the optimum design is determinde. The optimum design shall yield the lowest material and installation cost.nThe algorithm was applied on the design calculation. The calculation was modified such that the genetic algorithm shall operate to search for two variables, the distance between two adjacent anodes and the anode length, which yield minimum cost. The design calculation with the applied genetic algorithm was conducted in MATLAB® , and by making use of functions available from the GA Toolbox. nAn existing bracelet anode cathodic protection designs was revisited. The result was compared to the existing result.nThe calculation result indicates that the genetic algorithm based optimization technique produces variables earning less cost than the original design.nnNotes: CD is not available
