Design and Implementation of Network Security Using CISCO PIX Firewall to Support SCADA System at Betara Gas Plant of Petrochina International Jabung Ltd in Jambi

Petrochina International Jabung Ltd in Jambi has four field operations that will be integrated to Betara Gas Plant complex. The management of Petrochina needs a secure network, high availability, cost-effective, reliable, and low-cost connection. As the solution for this requirement, we implement a good private infrastructure connecting all field operations, Jakarta office, national and international communication, and especially to protect the SCADA data from the attacks and to monitor of collection SCADA data.nA Cisco PIX Firewall is used to protect the network because it has many security features including Intrusion Detection System (IDS) that can detect the intrusions or attacks based on its security policy. Based on testing and analysis of the results, the Cisco PIX Firewall is highly capable of protecting and detecting the intrusions and attacks. It is cost effective, proprietary operating system, high throughput, stable operating system, scalable, and high performance. Therefore, the design and implementation of this firewall meet Petrochina's goals.
