This research consists of the development of independent movie and motion picturenmovie in Indonesia, the discussion about the differences and similarities between bothntypes, and so forth. This study also will be examined the production process ofnBintang di Langit Jingga, a self-produced independent movie that is going to bencompared with Badai Pasti Berlalu, one of the famous Indonesian motion picturenmovie.nThere are several differences and similarities between independent movie and motionnpicture movie. The differences might from the aspect of actors, finance, promotion,nsoundtrack, basic equipment, characteristics, duration of the movie, shooting location,ncrew, ending, and storyline. And both have the similarities; the genre, two mainnfactors before producing a movie, and both consist of three major values of a movie.nIndonesian independent movie are already considered as different way to expressnstory idea and not following the mainstream. But motion picture movie still has anbigger part in Indonesian movie industry.
