Techno-economic feasibility analysis of using electric outboard motor for artisanal fishers in Indonesia

Ariwibowo, Tungky - Personal Name; Gunawan, Paulus - Personal Name; Ramadhani, Bagus - Personal Name;

In Indonesia, utilizing electric outboard motor as a boat propulsion system is not yet implemented especially for artisanal fisher because they are still using fuel-based motor as its propulsion system. Artisanal or traditional fishers usually using a boat size up to 5 GT which considered small size. Utilization of fuel-based motor is producing several disadvantages especially to the environment like water, air, and noise pollution. In this research, several electric outboard motor will be analyzed and compared with fuel-based motor in order to know if the utilization of electric motor for small fisher in Indonesia is feasible or not. Motor sizing for 1GT boat size also conducted as the study and application for fishers in Lantang Peo Island, South Sulawesi. Methods which were used in this research are considering the influence of the loading weight, wind speed, and wave height to the motor
