Development of skin lotion containing antioxidant extract from coffee pulp and study on its stability
A chronic exposure to Ultraviolet (UV) from sunlight can cause skin damage or skin disease. Applying cosmetic products such as skin lotions containing antioxidant can protect the skin from UV. Coffee pulp is a major coffee waste in the coffee industry and has a natural antioxidants compound. The aim of this study was to apply the coffee pulp extract powder into the skin lotion formulation, also study the phenolic content, antioxidant activity inside the coffee pulp skin lotion and its stability. First, the Coffee pulp was extracted at sample to solvent ratio 1:10 (w/v) using ethanol/water mixtures at various extraction temperature and time to obtained the optimum extraction condition.
